mosque at sengkang
K2LD Architects, in contemplating a ‘remodeled Singapore Mosque’, is acutely aware of the importance of the spirituality of the space and what it should do for the community.
The Mosque must focus on worship, the processes that lead to it and the community.
Contextually well- located in the new and youthful precinct of Sengkang, the new mosque is strategically positioned to give the town an icon with a unique identity that the community can embrace.
Spatially, it is undesirable for the Mosque to be cluttered with complicated exterior and interior gestures. The proposed design is based simply and symbolically on a white kopiah – it is developed as a spatial manifestation rather than as a derivative of architectural meaning.
